Understanding feedback
Correct — Your answer captures the intended relationship clearly enough to solve the puzzle.
Close — You have a relevant part of the idea, but the answer is too broad or misses an important detail.
Incorrect — The answer does not describe the intended connection. Try another angle rather than adding more words to the same idea.
A worked example
Mercury · Venus · Earth · Mars
“Planets” identifies a true category, but it does not explain this exact group. It is close.
“The first four planets from the Sun” names the intended relationship precisely. It is correct.
Your result and sharing
Your result shows how many of the five attempts you used to find the connection. When the game ends, read the answer and its explanation to see how the clues fit together.
When the game ends, the share result uses coloured squares for your feedback history without revealing the clues or answer. Progress and stats are saved on the device you are using, so clearing browser storage or changing devices starts with no local history.
Difficulty and the archive
Newer editions include Easy, Medium, and Hard puzzles. Each level has its own four clues and five attempts, and you can switch levels with the difficulty control. Earlier editions keep their original single puzzle and show no difficulty controls.
The archive lets you replay any past date. Archive progress is saved separately on this device and archive results do not change your daily stats or streak.
When does the next puzzle arrive?
The daily puzzle changes at 00:00 UTC. The game checks for the new puzzle at the day boundary and again when the app returns from the background.
Common questions
Do I need to use the exact answer?
No. Connecdle compares the meaning of your response with the intended idea, so a clear paraphrase can be correct. Important details still matter: a broad category may describe all four clues without explaining why that exact set was chosen.
Why was a true answer marked close?
Close means the guess overlaps with the intended connection but leaves out a defining detail. Use the four clues as evidence and ask what distinguishes them from other members of the same broad category.
What if the feedback seems wrong?
Send the puzzle number or date, your exact guess, the feedback you received, and what you expected to hello@connecdle.com. Reports are useful for finding missed paraphrases and ambiguous scoring boundaries.
Can I play without JavaScript?
Yes. The web version server-renders daily and archive clues and uses a normal same-page form for guesses, with attempts enforced by the server. Difficulty links also work without JavaScript. Animations, theme controls, sharing, and device-based statistics are enhanced features that require JavaScript. A server-only daily session expires at 00:00 UTC, while an archive session expires within 24 hours.
